Do I really want to walk in there?? –ALL those lean, beautiful women and the instructors all seem tall and in command! YES! I’d read the history/science/art of this exercise system was supposed to help even injured physiques! What’s more ‘injured’ than my physique at 50 pounds overweight with muscles that haven’t moved in years…add on top of that bad knees. But I thought: ‘Imust go in, I made the appointment and they said it worked for injured dancers’ (but I’ve never been a dancer!)…I’m going in!
WOW!! Fast forward 3 months and how different I feel today!!! Grateful to the Pilates Center of Cincinnati for showing me patience, teaching me how to take control, slowly, of each movement that my strength could tolerate, and encouraging me to go beyond where I ever thought I could move and lift. My instructor knows how to keep me true to the Pilates teaching, which in turn produces inner strength and muscle tone in me that I thought was never in me to be found. Thank you Sheila and the Pilates Center of Cincinnati for not snubbing the first timers to this unbelievably, effective, all-body transformation to better muscle tone and control. I urge anyone considering this to make the call and start your new physique today!
I originally came to the studio to purchase a gift certificate for a friend of mine and left giving myself a gift of a lifetime. I never considered myself to be a “pilates person.” I am a big girl, and therefore never really thought of taking any classes. While purchasing the gift certificate, I was asked, “So how about you?” and I thought, “How about me?” In the short time I have been coming, the rewards have been tremendous. My posture has improved, as well as my general well-being. Now I couldn’t think of not doing pilates.
Pilates will always have a place in my life. I started due to issues I was having with my back. The focus on strengthening the core and elongating the spine has helped that situation immensely. It has also helped my posture and balance. The reformer is such a versatile machine and there are endless routines to do which keeps it from ever being boring!
The instructors are friendly and encouraging. They also have great knowledge and an understanding of the body. For me, this studio sets itself apart from others I’ve tried due to the staff’s attention to the details. I feel I get a great workout without the worry of injury because they really focus on each person’s positioning. The goal is to have a healthy body so that’s key!
The other classes they offer are great: Yamuna Body Rolling, Floor, and recently, the new Barre class which is challenging. This studio has great energy all around!
